序数(ordinal number)というのは「～番目」というように
順序や順番を表現する数字の英語表現です。

序数の作り方は基数(cardinal number)末尾に th を付けるのが

基本で最後が y で終わる単語の場合は y を ie に変えて th を付けます。

例えば”２０”は・・twenty 　→　twentieth

ちなみに基数というのは字のとうり基本となる数字です。
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten ・・です。

序数の場合 1,2,3 については英語のスペルも読み方も特別になり
[ first → ファースト]  [ second → セカンド]  [ third → サード ]です。

それ以降の読み方の基本は [ "4" は fourth → フォース ]  [ "6" は sixth → シックス ]
などのように末尾スと読みます。（性格には th なので舌を軽く噛んで"ス"と発音）

5  [ fifth → フィフス ]　＊five の ve を f に変えて th
8  [ eighth → エイス ]　 ＊eight に h だけを付ける
9  [ ninth　→ ナインス ]　＊nineth としないように注意、nine の e を取る
12 [ twelfth → トゥウェルフス ]  ＊twelve の ve を f に変えて th

序数の省略形は以下のように一桁の位が１、２、３の場合は
それぞれ "1st"  "2nd"  "3rd" となって他は"4th"のように数字に"th"を付けます。

●英語の数字の数え方

例えば２ケタ
２２　→　twenty-two
３２　→　thirty-two
４２  →　forty-two

例えば３ケタ　　＊ ( and )は省略しても可
３００　→　three hundred  (１００の単位 hundred が３つある）
２４５　→　two hundred ( and ) forty-five
８０１　→　eight hundred ( and ) one

例えば４ケタ
３,０００　→　three thousand　（１,０００の単位 thousand が３つある）
３,００１　→　three thousand ( and ) one
３,０１３　→　three thousand ( and ) thirteen
３,５００　→　three thousand five hundred

５ケタ以上になると・・１,０００の単位の thousand がいくつあるのかを考えます。

２０,０００  →　twenty thousand　（１,０００の単位 thousand が２０ある）
２００,０００　→　two hundred , thousand  （１,０００の単位 thousand が２００ある）
２５２,２１２　→　two hundred fifty-two thousand , two hundred twelve

これはどうでしょうか？   ５６８,４７３,８１１

five hundred ( and ) sixty-eight million,
four hundred ( and ) seventy-three thousand,
eight hundred ( and ) eleven

かなり長くて面倒ですが読んでいると慣れてきますので自分で数字を作って

英語の数の数え方に慣れるようにしていきましょう。
